Each year the Penn Institute for Economic Research organizes conferences and co-sponsors similar events with other academic and government institutions, both local and international.

2008

The Philadelphia Workshop on Monetary and Macroeconomics

On March 28, 2008 and March 29, 2008, the Philadelphia Workshop on Monetary and Macroeconomics was held at Huntsman Hall, University of Pennsylvania, and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. This event was sponsored by the Research Department, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, The Penn Institute for Economic Research, and The International Economic Review. The purpose of this workshop was to foster research in the area of monetary and macroeconomics. This year's workshop focused on topics in Monetary Economics, Market for Ideas, and Housing and Other Markets with Frictions. The program organizers were: Satyajit Chatterjee and Randall Wright.

PIER Conference on Political Economy

On September 5, 2008 and September 6, 2008, the Penn Institute for Economic Research willi hold a Conference on Political Economy at the University of Pennsylvania. This event is sponsored by the School of Arts & Sciences. The conference goal is to bring together scholars from Europe and the United States to discuss new and exciting research topics in political economics. The program organizer is Antonio Merlo.
